Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District welcomes new member
Dunmore Lang College – a residential college for rural and regional students attending Macquarie University - is the latest organisation to join Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District as a member.
Recently celebrating 50 years of supporting young people who are seeking further education, the College provides accommodation to nurture a safe and supportive community for students in Macquarie Park
The College provides an extensive scholarship programme to enable students from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds including many who are first in their family to attend tertiary education to successfully transition and complete their Macquarie degrees..
Principal of the College, Dr Alasdair Murrie-West heralded Dunmore Lang College’s new membership of Connect MPID and their position in Macquarie Park:
“We are more than just a place to stay, we are a community . As well as providing a home to diverse students from across Australia, we’re looking forward to strengthening our connections across our innovative neighbourhood and sharing the work we do - particularly with our social enterprise suppliers and future employers.”
The College is named for John Dunmore Lang (1799-1878), a Glaswegian émigré, polymath and pioneer in education, politics, and social reform in Australia – including the first attempts to offer tertiary education to both male and female students.
Dunmore Lang College is based on Herring Road in the Macquarie University Station Priority Precinct, an area that has seen significant change in recent years, including the arrival of Sydney Metro, reconstruction of Herring Road and redevelopment of surrounding sites.
The College also has meeting and seminar rooms available with optional catering and hosts several strata and offsite meetings for local organisations.
