John Holland joins Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District, announces second stage of Macquarie Square
“Connecting today with tomorrow”
John Holland has joined Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District as a Tier 1 member, while announcing plans for the next visionary stage of Macquarie Square.
The expansion of Macquarie Square on Waterloo Road will include two state-of-the-art new buildings – The Stockmarket and Central House – injecting an additional 50,000sqm of Property Council of Australia category A-Grade commercial Net Lettable Area into the burgeoning precinct.
At the heart of the sweeping Macquarie Square masterplan is 7,000sqm Catherine Hamlin Park, the largest new public green space in Macquarie Park, which will be surrounded by a vibrant mix of food, beverage and retail, both day and night.
The site is a 3-minute walk from the existing Macquarie Park Metro station where John Holland is also currently building the expansion of Sydney Metro – Australia’s first autonomous rail system. When it opens in 2024, the extension to Sydney Metro will connect Macquarie Park to Barangaroo in less than 20 minutes, providing rapid connections to the Sydney CBD and beyond.
Mark Crudden, Development Director at John Holland, said Macquarie Park was a priority precinct for Sydney’s future:
“John Holland has already delivered Transport for NSW’s state-of-the-art offices (The Glasshouse) in Stage One of Macquarie Square, and is busy extending the Sydney Metro. We’ve joined Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District at a really pivotal time, as we commit to the next stage of Macquarie Square, and the dynamic opportunities and connections it will bring for generations to come.”
“The potential here for businesses is simply breathtaking and we’re excited to be collaborating with our Macquarie Park neighbours to help drive the innovation district forward.”
By becoming a Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District member, John Holland joins other leading organisations committed to the successful growth and evolution of Macquarie Park as a global innovation hub. These include AMP Capital, BOC, Fujifilm Business Innovation Australia, Macquarie University, Optus and Stockland, plus State and Local Government.
Charlotte Stratton, Chair of the Board at Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District, has welcomed John Holland as a member:
“John Holland is a true development and construction industry leader in Australia, focused on transforming lives through the creation of precincts like Macquarie Square and other major projects. It is exciting to have them join our partnership of employers, landowners, government and a world-class university.”
“Today, Macquarie Park is already a key strategic centre for the pharmaceutical, tech and telecoms industries. By working in partnership with State and Local Government, we can help transform Macquarie Park into a globally successful innovation district tomorrow.”
“Momentum is gathering as more and more business leaders see the rich potential of Australia’s original innovation district. We’re working together with our members to accelerate the benefits of growth in Macquarie Park.”
Membership of Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District is open to all employers, landowners, institutions and emerging companies based in Macquarie Park, and tiered on the basis of size.
