Macquarie Park Walkathon raises thousands for local literacy programs

Hundreds of Macquarie Park employees put their best foot forward for United Way's recent 2022 Macquarie Park Business Community Walkathon - raising tens of thousands of dollars for early literacy programs in the local area.

Returning for the first time since the start of the pandemic, United Way’s Walkathon is one of the largest in-person events held in Macquarie Park each year, with teams competing on the Walkathon leader board.

Connect MPID members FUJIFILM Business Innovation, Johnson & Johnson, Optus and Stockland were joined by other employers from across our innovation district community, including Edwards Life Sciences, Merck Group, Macquarie Telecom, Orix, Pitney Bowes and Tech Data.

The fun walk exploring the streets of Macquarie Park finished on the lawns of Johnson & Johnson with a BBQ, raffle garden games and entertainment in the spring summer sun.

Congratulations to top supporter Varun Maharaj from ORIX, who personally raised more than $1,000 in donations - bringing the grand total raised from the event to just under $42,000.
