Macquarie Park is OPEN! Our plan to welcome you back

Macquarie Park employees will be welcomed back to Australia’s original innovation district with free fitness programs, live music lunches, deals and even visits from a pop up ice cream truck. As we all discover our ‘new normal’, Connect MPID is proud to proclaim Macquarie Park is OPEN!

Our pandemic surveys of Macquarie Park employees showed that people primarily want to return to reunite their teams, socialise, network and catch up with colleagues - so with the help of our partners at the City of Ryde Council we've planned lots of ways to support this, and to help create a buzz again.

City of Ryde Mayor, Councillor Jordan Lane, said:

“Macquarie Park has been hit really hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but as restrictions start to ease it is time to welcome workers and shoppers back in a safe and sensible way.”

“While there is still work to do, I am really excited about what the future holds for Macquarie Park as it continues to grow as an economic, education and innovation hub.”

Some 40,000 Macquarie University students will begin their return to on-campus learning this week, while major employers will welcome more of their 72,000 employees back as health restrictions ease.

Bright pink “Macquarie Park is OPEN” banners will adorn light poles across the Park, with the same colourful messaging displayed on screens throughout Connect MPID’s member workplaces.

General Manager Mark Ames said he hoped the campaign would strike an optimistic note:

“Macquarie Park is well positioned with exceptionally high levels of vaccination, lower case numbers, and safety-conscious shops, gyms, cafes and bars who are keen to welcome us all back.”

“Some people have been away from their teams in person, and away from the Park, for 2 years.”

Macquarie Park is OPEN will serve as a reminder of what’s on offer here - from state-of-the-art public transport, to award winning coffee shops, plus spaces where we can come together with colleagues again.”

Communications throughout the campaign will highlight the surprising level of amenity in the innovation district, including an art gallery, new fitness centres and more.

“It’s the perfect time to plan a quality catch up with your team mates again!”, said Mark.
