Connect MPID welcomes the release of NSW Innovation Blueprint: insights and analysis

Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District (CMPID) welcomes the release of the NSW Innovation Blueprint 2035 – a much-needed policy commitment to growing NSW’s innovation economy.

“CMPID thanks Minister Chanthivong and Investment NSW for setting out a set of ambitious targets in the NSW Innovation Blueprint 2035, and we look forward to seeing further details and commitments to provide local startups and the Macquarie Park innovation district the support they need to grow”, noted Davor Jozic, General Manager of Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District.

“The NSW Government’s release of the NSW Industry Policy and NSW Innovation Blueprint 2035 demonstrates a new focus on the economy which is welcome. We must be focused to preserve Macquarie Park’s fundamental role as an innovation engine for the state with over 63,000 jobs that can grow to over 100,000 jobs and that currently generate $13.6 billion in annual impact to the economy”, noted Dr Rob Stokes, Chair of Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District.

The Blueprint sets out a vision to grow the number of innovation-intensive firms to 7,000 firms by 2035 which would add $66 billion to the economy and create over 230K jobs.

  • Focus on support and scaling deep tech and advanced manufacturing businesses which is a strength of Macquarie Park

What we still need to see

  • Funding commitments in the upcoming state budget to back the strategy in

  • Articulation of Investment NSW’s role in co-partnering with other priority innovation districts which can help grow the state
