Stockland’s new flexible policy putting families first

Stockland has recently taken a big step forward in defining what flexible work looks like for their organisation by launching a new parental leave policy which removes the distinction of ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ carer.

A local Macquarie Park landowner, Stockland has more than 90% of their teams working flexibly. The policy allows for leave to be taken at any time over a 24-month period and better reflects the changing needs of Stockland’s people.

Tarun Gupta, Managing Director and CEO, says the new policy recognises that the parenting journey is different for everyone.

“Offering a truly flexible approach to parental leave is about delivering on our ongoing commitment to gender equity and work-life integration.

“The policy acknowledges the important role parents play in Australian society. By removing the carer distinction, our people can structure their parental leave with the freedom to decide how to use the time and how to support the ongoing care of a young child with the eventual return to work.

Over the past four years we have seen a 64% increase in the number of men taking parental leave, and we are pleased to see this growing year on year,” Tarun Gupta said.

Stockland is a well-known and valued member of the Macquarie Park community, delivering a number of projects including the Triniti Business Park (North Ryde), M_Park and the new Johnson & Johnson headquarters currently under development.
