New neighbours: a MedTech win for Mac Park as Nanosonic move in

Infection protection specialists Nanosonics have announced they will establish new global headquarters in Macquarie Park, doubling their manufacturing capacity in the heart of Australia’s original innovation district.

The Australian company specialises in infection protection, and pioneered high level disinfection technology to protect millions of patients who have ultrasounds every day.

Nanosonics CEO Michael Kavanagh believes their new state of the art facilities in Macquarie Park will support and encourage growth across the business:

“Nanosonics has reached an exciting phase in its global growth trajectory and this support will help take our manufacturing capacity, as well as important R&D, to a new level of operation.”

The move will provide expanded space for research and development, create 100 new direct jobs, and improve their manufacturing and export levels around the world.

Nanosonics will join other big MedTech employers already established in the health-focused precinct, including Abbott, Cochlear and Astra Zeneca. Nanosonics is making the move with support from the NSW Government, via their Jobs Plus Program.

NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney and Minister for Trade and Industry Stuart Ayers said supporting innovative companies in the sector will help to turn great ideas into products that will benefit patients in Australia and around the world.

“Nanosonics has seen rapid growth over the last six years and it is fantastic to see another great Australian company, based in NSW, bring new innovation to the world to deliver new standards of care in the healthcare sector,” Mr Ayres said.

Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District General Manager Mark Ames said the Nanosonic move was a sign of confidence in the area:

"If you’re a global MedTech leader looking for a home with affordable space to grow that’s already filled with the smart staff and research communities you rely on, then Macquarie Park is for you.”

“We look forward to extending a big Macquarie Park welcome to Michael and the Nanosonic team, introducing them to their new neighbours and - because innovation requires caffeination - showing them where to get the best coffee in our innovation district!”
