Macquarie University recognised for campus revitalisation project
Macquarie University’s Director of Property and Connect MPID Board member Mark Broomfield has picked up the TEFMA Institution of the Year Award on behalf of Macquarie University.
Mark and his Property team were recognised for their significant work to reinvigorate Macquarie University’s 126 hectare campus into a state-of-the-art learning and collaboration space that will stand the University in good stead for the future.
More than $1bn has been invested in the University campus, underpinned by an award-winning 10-year masterplan. The team have recently completed work on a new Arts Precinct, Central Courtyard and the Ainsworth Building.
Home to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the cutting edge construction of the Ainsworth Building also recently received the 2021 Award for Educational Architecture by the Australian Institute of Architects. Together these projects have reimagined and revitalised the campus environment, creating more useable space through unique and creative architecture.
Mark is excited about what the team has achieved in creating a space where people want to be, and encourages the broader Macquarie Park community to visit:
"Our campus is open for everyone. If you haven't been to visit recently, you're in for a pleasant surprise.”
“We believe we've built a world-class campus that will bring our students, researchers and neighbouring business community closer together, and I'm delighted Macquarie University has been recognised with this award"
TEFMA supports built environment professionals across the Asia Pacific higher education sector. TEFMA members manage some 16.4 million square metres of gross floor area, within facilities with a replacement value of some $69.8 billion (AUD). TEFMA’s annual awards recognise the best developments and contributions by industry members, and this year went virtual due to the pandemic.
Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District is fortunate to benefit from the leadership of local experts who volunteer their time to help guide our progress. Congratulations Mark and team!
