A year in review: Connect MPID publishes 2nd Annual Impact Report
Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District’s Board of Directors have marked the success of FY23 by endorsing our second Annual Report.
The report highlights the impact Connect MPID made in the financial year to 30 June 2023; from attracting new members, to supporting the Macquarie Park innovation district community in its year of “post-COVID acceleration”.
More than 3,200 people attended Connect MPID events during the year (+47%), including member-only briefings and workshops. For example, April’s Macquarie Park Summit attracted more than 200 people for discussions on Macquarie Park’s strengths today, the needs of our community, and how our area is about to change.
Other key highlights included:
Our “Get ready for more Metro, Macquarie Park!” industry briefing and report launch
Our shareable video case study series “How I Made This” which spotlighted some of our local Macquarie Park innovators and start-ups
Macquarie Park’s inaugural “Pride Forum” celebrating Sydney World Pride and Macquarie Park’s inclusive, safe and equal opportunity employers, and;
The production of “How to talk about Macquarie Park innovation district - a narrative framework”, designed to help create consistent messaging about Macquarie Park and combat negative perceptions of our area
The report was ratified at the Associations’s recent Annual General Meeting, held at Macquarie University.
Charlotte Stratton, Chair of our Board of Directors, hailed Connect MPID’s progress and thanked our members:
“As our district grows and evolves, the work of Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District to unite our community, elevate its achievements and transform our area becomes more important.
This is only possible with the support of our general partners and members, who collaborate around our table by dedicating time and resources in the pursuit of a common goal.
If you’re a leading workplace in Macquarie Park - big or small - I hope you’ll consider joining us in the year ahead.”
Connect MPID’s accountants presented an independent overview of our strong not-for-profit financial position. We concluded the year with an operating surplus to be re-invested into our activities, and with 39% of operating income derived from member subscriptions (leading businesses in our area), and 49% from funding partners (State and Local Government, Macquarie University).
Connect MPID is backed by a Board of Association comprised of local leaders who generously volunteer their time to help guide our progress, including representatives from business, government and academia.
