E-charging parking sparking interest
Electric vehicle (EV) owners have an easier commute following the installation of two new public EV chargers by the City of Ryde.
Located outside of 22 Giffnock Avenue in Macquarie Park and at the Church Street car park in Top Ryde, the EV chargers are part of Council’s commitment to reducing community emissions.
“Electric vehicles are the future. They offer a clean transport option with the added convenience of charging at home or on the road,” said City of Ryde Mayor, Councillor Jerome Laxale.
The new public chargers will compliment Tesla Superchargers available at Macquarie Centre, and in-house facilities, like the charging stations offered to employees at Optus on Giffnock Avenue.
Hyundai, whose Australian headquarters are nearby, recently inked a deal to supply power to their onsite hydrogen refuelling station – the first of its kind in the country, further boosting Macquarie Park’s green credentials.
Estimates suggest more than 60% of passenger vehicle sales in Australia will electric by 2040.
