Stockland celebrate progress at $2bn Macquarie Park science and tech precinct

Construction is well underway at M_Park - a seven-hectare, $2 billion technology and sciences precinct being developed by Stockland in Macquarie Park, Sydney.

Stockland CEO and managing director Tarun Gupta was joined by local MP and Minister for Digital Victor Dominello for a belated sod turning ceremony on Thursday to celebrate significant progress at the Khartourm Road site.

Gupta said it was exciting to see construction advancing, despite the challenge of building through recent COVID-19 lockdowns:

“It’s exciting to see the progress made on our M_Park project, which will have an end value in excess of $2 billion with around 6,000 workers, and represents an unprecedented opportunity to support the NSW Government’s plan to drive investment in the Health, Education and Technology sectors and accommodate the future of Australia’s medical technology (med-tech) industry."

Minister Dominello acknowledged the significance of the site within the wider Macquarie Park Innovation District ecosystem:

“Macquarie Park is the technology capital of Australia and this project will further harness the area as an epicentre for digital jobs and investment,” he said.

On completion in 2024, stage one of M_Park will contain three commercial buildings with shared amenities across the site plus a data centre. Anchor tenants will include a new WiSE multidisciplinary medical and emergency centre, and the consolidated Australian headquarters for leading local employer Johnson & Johnson.

Planning is already underway for stage two of the site, including options for further new public space and technology businesses.

According to recent analysis, Macquarie Park is already home to more than 180 life science, technology and digital businesses, including Macquarie University Hospital, and is ranked in the top Australian locations for scientific research jobs.
