Decision makers and industry leaders from across Australia met at Parliament in Canberra this week to learn more about Macquarie Park.

Connect was invited to address Federal Members of Parliament Dave Sharma, Helen Haines and Andrew Leigh at an all-party parliamentary event, to share how employers are leading a safe return to work by encouraging more sustainable travel.

We shared new data that showed how the coronavirus pandemic has significantly changed travel patterns, and the impact on future ways of working.

Surveying employees across the Park, Connect found 11% of commuters intend to walk or cycle to work when they return to the office - a 4% increase, and almost as many as intend to use the bus.

Connect shared what leading employers are doing to support their employees to return safely on foot or by bike; from state-of-the-art new end of trip facilities at Optus, to a cycling event hosted at Novartis.

The Canberra breakfast was hosted by WeRide Australia, and also heard from Senator Richard Colbeck, the Minister for Sport, Andrew Giles, Shadow Minister for Cities and Urban Infrastructure, and Sara Stace, Director of Cities at WSP.
