Macquarie Park data centres receive multi-million-dollar upgrades

A Macquarie Park data centre campus has completed major upgrades, boosting speed and security for clients ‘in the cloud’.

Macquarie Data Centres (MDC), part of the Macquarie Technology Group, completed the multi-million-dollar upgrades to their Data Centre campuses, including on Talavera Road in Macquarie Park.

More ultra-secure campus zones have been added, plus significant power upgrades, increased operational efficiency and further rack capacity to support client growth. This will also help with the handling of data-intensive workloads such as AI.

The upgrades meet the requirements of the highest levels of the Australian Federal Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework, which considers both the physical and cyber security standards that underpin MDC’s operations.

Clients include 42% of the Commonwealth Government, global hyper-scalers, and large multinationals.

David Hirst, Group Executive at Macquarie Data Centres highlighted the promise of campus upgrades to service capacity and customer support:

“These upgrades give our local and international customers the capacity they need to scale their businesses and expand their Australian footprint”

He also suggested that when organisations make data centre investments

“…they need expert colocation partners that understand not just capacity, but the related security compliance, and sovereignty considerations. This investment is a testament to our ability to be that trusted partner”

Construction is currently underway for MDC’s Intellicentre 3 Super West (IC3), an additional 32MW facility that is due for completion later this year, which will become Macquarie Park’s largest data centre upon completion.

IC3 is slated to create more than 1,200 jobs in our area across construction, engineering, technology and cybersecurity sectors.

MDC’s upgrades attest to the ongoing growth of the data and cybersecurity landscape, as well as its increasing presence in Macquarie Park.
