What people miss about their Mac Park office: new data
We all miss seeing our teams in person, new data from Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District shows. Looking ahead to when COVID-19 restrictions ease, 72% of employees said they want to come in to the office to work with their team in person - more than any other reason.
Connect surveyed hundreds of Macquarie Park employees to understand their attitude to remote working, what activities and facilities they will return to the office for, and how they’ll get here when they do. A new report, “Finding the path forward: measuring the steps through COVID-19 to economic recovery in Macquarie Park” is the outcome.
Social interaction rates highly in all the activities employees want to use their office for – including working with teams, interacting in an incidental way with other people, and socialising. Coming back to perform their day-to-day work was ranked last by employees.
CMPID General Manager Mark Ames says the purpose of the workplace continues to evolve:
”Employees are questioning the purpose of their office beyond the edge of their desk – now it’s a place to create, to collaborate and to build relationships face-to-face with colleagues. A centre for your corporate culture.”
“The rise of remote and hybrid work options is a positive outcome of the pandemic, but one thing is for sure - Mac Park employees miss seeing their teams in real life.”
When asked what facilities employees would return to the office for, team and group working spaces rated the highest with nearly 60% of people indicating this was the main reason they would return.
Looking at the role of offices in Macquarie Park, the report includes a case study of Schneider Electric’s new state-of-the-art workplace, and a break down of the facilities and activities employees say they want from their workplace.
