More amenity! A new fitness philosophy now calls Macquarie Park home

New fitness kids on the block, FS8, have set up shop in Macquarie Park, and say they’re ready to shake up your fitness regime!

In a sign of more employees returning to the innovation district and rising confidence, business owner Phong Thach says the team are ready to welcome people back to a ‘new normal’ with a focus on fitness:

“After so many months away, our team is really looking forward to helping people return to normality and a regular exercise routine.”

“If there’s one thing we learned during the pandemic it was that any window where you have the opportunity to exercise is great. We want to educate people that going to the gym, training, it doesn’t have to be a certain way. You can mix it up and take a more holistic approach.”

Macquarie Park is among the first locations in Sydney to offer FS8 programs - a combination of low-impact, high sweat, functional fitness classes that include elements of yoga, pilates and toning. FS8 is located on Level 1, 396 Lane Cove Road, in the Macquarie Exchange development site.

FS8 adds to Macquarie Park’s growing number of health and wellness businesses which serve the needs of local workers. Most have now re-opened after recent lockdowns, and are ready to welcome members back in a COVID-safe environment.

Recent data from advocacy body Fitness Australia found gyms and fitness professionals were among the most adversely affected by lockdowns. Despite significant efforts to pivot to an online offer, virtual or outdoor training represented less than 10% of usual industry income.

Connect MPID General Manager said Macquarie Park offers more amenity than first meets the eye:

“We’re celebrating that Macquarie Park is OPEN by highlighting the growing lifestyle opportunities our busy innovation district offers. From welcoming new gyms like FS8, to visiting thought-provoking art galleries, from our very own national park to happy hour with colleagues - all work and no play is a thing of the past with so many choices to let off steam here!”

And Phong and the team from FS8 couldn’t agree more:

“We want to show people a different type of training. The best thing to do is to come in and see what we offer!”

March 2022 will see the most significant in-person return of students and business people to Macquarie Park since the start of the global pandemic. Connect Macquarie Innovation District’s Macquarie Park is OPEN campaign will welcome everyone back by highlighting Macquarie Park’s amenity, creating moments to bring people together, and boosting confidence across the Park.
