Motor Neurone Disease Gala: Support a worthy cause
EVENT Name

Date & TIME
Friday 28 June
LOCATION
W Sydney in Darling Harbour
Tickets are now on sale for the 2024 MND Gala, which supports the vital work of the Macquarie University Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Research Centre.
Hosted by Professor of Neurology and leading MND clinician, Professor Dominic Rowe, the Gala is a key fundraiser for the research centre and Macquarie University Hospital’s free MND Clinic. The work of the research centre is focused on developing treatments that can extend and improve MND patients' lives and finding a cure for this devastating disease.
About 2,500 Australians are currently living with MND, and another 800 are diagnosed each year.
Also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), MND causes the progressive loss of the neurons that allow the brain and spine to communicate with the muscles.
Patients in the early stages of the disease begin by experiencing muscle weakness, but as it progresses, they gradually lose the ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe unaided.
Most die within two to five years of diagnosis.
This year’s MND Gala is being held at W Sydney in Darling Harbour, on Friday, 28 June. It includes a gourmet dinner, entertainment, speakers, and auctions of money-can’t-buy experiences and rare and unique items. Tickets are $300 a head, or $2,500 for a table of 10. Book online.
For those that cannot attend the Gala but would like to support the work of the research centre and clinic, all donations are gratefully accepted, and donations over $2 are tax deductible.
